The Cedarvale Community Garden was operated as a Children’s Teaching Garden for more than a decade. Currently it is a communal garden with all members sharing in the work and the produce. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for community members to experience the joys and health benefits of growing their own food. Our twice-weekly stewardship days involve preparing beds, planting fertilizing, weeding and harvesting.
We also want to beautify and animate our park, build community and teach our volunteers organic vegetable gardening practices.
Your donation will help us to purchase:
- organic soil amendments and fertilizers ($150 a year)
- seeds and seedling plants ($200 per year)
- tools ($300)
- T-shirts for our new volunteers ($30 per volunteer)
